An opportunity has arisen for a Costs Lawyer / Law Costs Draftsperson to join the growing specialist Costs Team at Hugh James.
This role is also on offer to our London office.
The role
The Cost Department at Hugh James conducts some of the largest, most interesting and specialist costs cases within England and Wales. The team works closely with the Claimant teams within the firm while also providing general support for teams throughout the rest of the firm. The team work predominately on estimates, cost budgets, bill preparation and cost negotiations, they also attend court for detailed assessment and costs and case management hearings.
This is an exciting opportunity to work on large, complex and exciting PI/Group Action/Specialist cases and AI proof your legal career.
As part of a team the successful candidate will -

Prepare Bills of Costs, primarily for personal injury claims but also for commercial dispute cases as/when required
- Prepare Points of Dispute and Replies
- Prepare Cost Budgets
- Negotiate costs settlements
- Mediate cost settlements
Skills & Qualifications
The successful candidate will have relevant experience in a similar Law Costs role. They will have proven legal, specialist costs and negotiation skills.
Good communication and strong IT skills are a must. Experience of using Costs Master would be advantageous.
