Yorkshire Farmhouse Eggs are a successful family run egg production and marketing business based near Thirsk, North Yorkshire. We have a wide customer base ranging from smaller independent retailers, food service, wholesale and the major retailers.
We are looking to appoint a Packing Centre Manager to join our senior management team during a period of continued growth. With exciting plans and projects ahead, we are seeking an enthusiastic, hands-on individual who can lead by example, build strong working relationships and help take our operations to the next level.
The ideal candidate will work closely with the Logistics Manager to ensure our products are delivered on time, every time, without compromising quality. You will lead, support and motivate the packing centre team, making sure colleagues have the information, training and equipment they need to carry out their daily tasks successfully in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment. This is a hands-on role, with much of the daily routine spent on the packing centre floor, driving performance and setting high standards.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Manage the day-to-day running of the egg packing station, including goods in and the production team, to ensure products are packed and delivered to exact specifications.
- Plan production schedules, shift rotas and manage staff and absences
- Plan machine maintenance and engineer tasks, including ordering necessary tools and parts.
- Communicate with customers and stakeholders relating to supply delays/challenges.
- Fully brief the management team on raw material and production challenges.
- Conduct stocktakes and end of month reports.
- Carry out inductions with new members
· Coordinate and maintain regular training to ensure all staff are competent in their roles and follow safe working practices at all times.
- Assist with recruitment, HR and disciplinary processes.
- Conduct regular reviews and appraisals for staff.
- Host visitors, customers and assist the technical manager with auditors when required.
The person
· A confident communicator who can engage effectively with colleagues, customers, suppliers and senior managers.
· A positive motivator and influencer with a practical, can-do attitude.
· Well organised, calm under pressure and able to prioritise effectively in a busy production environment.
· Previous people-management experience, ideally within food production, manufacturing, logistics or a similar fast-paced operational setting.
· Comfortable using IT systems and Microsoft Office packages to manage information, reports and communication.
· Hands-on, highly visible and credible on the shop floor, with the ability to set standards, support the team and lead from the front.
· Approachable, fair and consistent, with the confidence to have honest conversations and make sound decisions.
