Overview
You’re an experienced commercial vehicle welder/fabricator ready to step up and lead. You’ll still gets hands-on with steel, aluminium and bespoke builds, plus guide the team, check quality, place and track orders and keep workshop work flowing smoothly. We build skip bodies, recovery vehicles, hook-lift and hydraulic systems – Precision matters, and you’ll set the standard.

£15.00 - £20.00 per hour – based on skill, experience and supervisory track record.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead, assign work and mentor junior welders/fabricators
- MIG welding of steel, aluminium, and other materials
- MIG weld steel, aluminium and other materials to spec
- Fabricate & assemble commercial Vehicle bodies, Recovery & skip bodies
- Fit hydraulic systems: wet kits. Hook-loaders, skip loaders
- Cut, shape, fit panels & framework; modify/repair existing bodies
- The use of Hand tools and welding and fabrication are essential.
- Read technical drawings, plan builds and measure accurately
- Carry out quality inspection and fix issues during fabrication
- Maintain safe, tidy workshop and follow all H&S rules
- Improve processes and help the team hit targets
- Place material orders and assess stock levels
What you bring:
- 2+ years MIG welding + 2+ years fabrication experience (essential)
- Experience with commercial vehicle body building / hydraulic fitting is a big plus
- Can read engineering drawings and work precisely
- Proven ability to lead or supervise small teams
- Good problem- solving, basic maths and proactive attitude
- Valid UK driving licence preferred
- Relevant welding qualifications advantageous
