Our Birmingham Airport hotel is entering an exciting new phase, having had extensive renovation, a new name and brand as AC Hotel by Marriott and a renewed focus on quality, guest experience, and dining. As we begin this new chapter, we are investing in our food offering and looking for a talented Executive Head Chef to help shape and lead this transformation. This is a new, full-time role with a salary of £40,000 p.a. plus benefits.
Ideally situated at Birmingham Airport and the NEC, our hotel benefits from a fast-paced environment, welcoming a diverse mix of international travellers, business guests, and large-scale event visitors. With the NEC hosting some of the UK’s biggest exhibitions, conferences, and live events, this role offers a dynamic service style and the opportunity to create menus that cater to a wide variety of guests and occasions.
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and driven Executive Head Chef to lead the kitchen team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate culinary professional to take ownership of the food offering, elevate standards, and build a high-performing brigade in a busy hotel setting with constant variety.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all kitchen operations and manage food-related functions
- Drive menu development and deliver high-quality, innovative dishes
- Maintain responsibility for food standards, consistency, and presentation
- Oversee financial performance, including food cost control and profitability
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and food hygiene standards
- Manage, train, and develop the kitchen team
- Monitor staffing levels to meet service and business needs
- Reduce food waste and maximise ingredient utilisation
- Deliver exceptional guest experiences through food quality
About You
- Three years' experience in a senior kitchen leadership role
- Strong culinary skills, with the ability to run the pass when required
- Solid financial awareness, including food cost control and margins
- Experience in menu creation for a variety of dining and event styles
- Strong leadership and team development skills
- Passion for continuous improvement and high standards
- Excellent knowledge of kitchen compliance and hygiene
