We are seeking a dynamic and friendly Night Porter/Receptionist to provide exceptional holiday cover.
The Queensgate Hotel and Conference Centre is one of the areas leading independent hotels and has been for over 20 years now.
We have a vacancy to join our team as a Night Reception team member on a full time basis.
The job itself is extremely varied, greeting new arrivals and checking them in, ensuring the night audit runs successfully, serving guests in the bar overnight, ensuring the building is secure, cleaning common areas, setting up conference rooms for meetings and events and checking the building regularly, no 2 nights are the same!

Responsibilities
- Greet guests warmly upon arrival, ensuring a positive first impression and smooth check-in process
- Handle all guest inquiries with enthusiasm, providing accurate information about hotel services and local attractions
- Manage phone calls professionally, demonstrating excellent phone etiquette to assist callers efficiently
- Monitor security systems, conduct regular patrols of the premises, and ensure guest safety throughout the night
- Assist with administrative tasks such as logging arrivals and departures, updating reservation records, and managing guest requests
- Respond promptly to any emergencies or issues that arise during overnight hours, coordinating with emergency services if necessary
- Maintain a clean, organized reception area and ensure all hotel policies are followed consistently
Requirements
- Previous experience in hotel reception or hospitality roles is highly desirable
- Strong communication skills with an emphasis on polite and professional phone etiquette
- Passion for delivering excellent guest services and creating welcoming environments
- Ability to work independently during night shifts while remaining alert and attentive to detail
- Knowledge of hospitality systems or hotel management software is preferred but not essential
- Flexibility to cover holiday periods and adapt to varying shift patterns
