Overview
We are seeking a dedicated SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) Teaching Assistant to support children with diverse learning needs within a school environment. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers, specialising in assisting pupils with autism, disabilities, and other special educational requirements. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children requiring additional support, fostering their development and confidence. Responsibilities
- Assist teachers in delivering tailored educational programmes to pupils with SEND
- Support children with autism, disabilities, or additional needs during lessons and activities
- Provide one-on-one assistance to students, ensuring they can access the curriculum effectively
- Support children’s social and emotional development through positive interaction and behaviour management
- Aid in implementing personalised care plans, including behavioural strategies and communication techniques
- Supervise children during break times, lunch, and outdoor activities to ensure safety and engagement
- Assist with classroom organisation, including preparing materials and resources for lessons
- Foster a nurturing environment that promotes independence, confidence, and inclusion for all pupils
Experience
- Prior experience working with individuals with autism or other disabilities is highly desirable
- Experience in teaching or supporting children within an educational setting is preferred
- Experience caring for toddlers or young children will be considered beneficial
- Strong communication skills are essential to effectively collaborate with staff, pupils, and parents
- Compassionate attitude with a genuine interest in supporting children's development and well-being
