About the role:
We are seeking a welcoming and dedicated Front of House Supervisor to support the smooth day-to-day running of the catering service at Downside School. Working closely with the General Manager, you'll play an important role in leading and supporting the front-of-house team, ensuring excellent customer service, and maintaining high standards across all aspects of food service. This hands-on position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people, takes pride in delivering great hospitality, and is passionate about creating a positive dining experience.
You will be joining Holroyd Howe, one of the UK’s leading contract caterers, providing fresh, innovative food services solely to independent schools and colleges. We are a team of experienced professionals who tailor our catering service provision specifically to suit children of all ages in order to meet the bespoke requirements of each school.

Job Description
Key Responsibilities:

Support the Senior Team in the day-to-day operation of the catering service, ensuring a consistently high standard of food service and customer care.

Supervise and support the front-of-house team, providing guidance, coaching, and encouragement to ensure excellent performance.

Lead by example, delivering a welcoming and professional dining experience for pupils, staff, and visitors.

Assist with stock control, ordering, and the monitoring of supplies to support operational requirements and budget expectations.

Support the planning and delivery of hospitality events, school functions, and special occasions.

Handle customer queries and feedback professionally, helping to ensure a positive customer experience at all times.

Assist with the induction and training of new team members, helping to foster a positive and supportive team culture.

Deputise for the Deputy General Manager when required, taking responsibility for the smooth running of the operation and team leadership.
Qualifications
Candidate Profile:
-
Previous supervisory experience within a catering, hospitality, or food service environment would be ideal.

A passion for delivering excellent food service and creating positive customer experiences.

Good understanding of food safety, health & safety, and compliance requirements.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with colleagues, pupils, staff, and visitors.

Organised and able to remain calm and focused in a busy environment.

A hands-on approach with a willingness to support all aspects of the operation when required.

Experience within an education or contract catering environment would be advantageous, but is not essential.
