Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Quality Inspector to support our quality and inspection activities across aerospace and automotive projects. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring all components meet customer, regulatory, and internal quality requirements while supporting the effective control of subcontract processes and quality documentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR) in accordance with AS9102 requirements.
- Prepare, compile and review PPAP documentation for automotive customers.
- Perform dimensional and visual inspection of precision-engineered components.
- Use a range of measuring equipment including micrometers, verniers, height gauges, bore gauges and CMM (where applicable).
- Inspect components throughout the manufacturing process, including goods inwards, in-process and final inspection.
- Create and manage subcontract purchase orders using the Tricorn ERP system.
- Coordinate subcontract operations by booking components in and out of subcontract suppliers, ensuring full traceability and accurate documentation.
- Monitor subcontract work to ensure quality standards, delivery requirements and customer specifications are achieved.
- Review engineering drawings, specifications and customer requirements.
- Record inspection results and maintain accurate quality records in accordance with AS9100D requirements.
- Support internal, customer and third-party audits.
- Work closely with production, engineering and purchasing teams to resolve quality issues and drive continuous improvement.
Skills & Experience Required
- Proven experience in a Quality Inspector role within a precision engineering environment.
- Strong understanding of AS9100D quality management systems.
- Experience completing First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR) to AS9102 standards.
- Experience preparing and reviewing PPAP documentation.
- Experience using Tricorn ERP software or similar manufacturing ERP systems.
- Experience raising subcontract purchase orders and coordinating subcontract processes.
- Ability to read and interpret detailed engineering drawings and specifications.
- Confident use of precision measuring equipment.
- Excellent attention to detail with a methodical and organised approach.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively across departments.
Desirable
- Aerospace and/or automotive manufacturing experience.
- CMM programming or operating experience.
- Knowledge of quality management software and document control systems.
- Internal Auditor experience to AS9100D.
- Continuous Improvement or Lean Manufacturing awareness.
