Cardiff and Vale College is one of the largest colleges in the UK and an exciting place to work. We are looking for a proactive and enthusiastic Electrical Engineering Technician to join our Engineering, Aerospace and Automotive team.
This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in supporting the delivery of high-quality practical learning experiences for our students. Working closely with lecturing staff, you will help prepare and maintain specialist equipment, support practical workshop sessions and ensure that facilities operate safely and efficiently.
The successful candidate will:
- Support practical electrical engineering sessions and learner activities.
- Assist with the setup, demonstration and fault-finding of electrical circuits, installations and systems.
- Support learners in the safe use of electrical tools, testing equipment and training rigs.
- Prepare, maintain and monitor equipment, tools and resources.
- Assist with stock control, ordering of materials and equipment maintenance.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety requirements, including PAT testing and COSHH procedures.
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff to support curriculum delivery and continuous improvement.
You will have:
- A Level 2 qualification in a relevant subject area.
- Relevant industrial experience.
- Knowledge of health and safety requirements and safe working practices.
- An understanding of electrical principles and electrical testing equipment.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- A commitment to supporting learners and delivering an outstanding learning environment.
