About the role
Our Balfour Beatty Highways business has a fantastic opportunity for a GIS Analyst to join our team on the Highways A66 NTP Scheme, this role will be based at Penrith, Cumbria
Balfour Beatty Highways maintain, manage, and operate major highway networks across the UK and support local authorities creating communities where people want to live work and play.
We provide high quality asset strategy, management, and planning consultancy services to a wide range of public and private sector customers. We provide specialist, reliable, sustainable, and creative advice for asset management planning and implementation in the UK. What you'll be doing
- Provide GIS support to the A66 project, including the creation, maintenance, management and assurance of GIS data and associated geospatial outputs.
- Create, manage and publish GIS data, maps, dashboards and spatial outputs for use by internal project teams, client representatives and supply chain stakeholders.
- Deliver required GIS datasets, mapping products and geospatial information to internal teams, external clients and project stakeholders in accordance with project requirements.
- Support the population, distribution, upkeep and quality assurance of GIS datasets, ensuring information is structured, accurate and maintained to required project standards.
- Work closely with site operatives, environmental, design, CAD, BIM/Digital Engineering, CDE/ACC and Project Information Management teams to convert, integrate and coordinate data between formats and systems.
- Align GIS data, outputs, workflows and reporting with wider Balfour Beatty GIS initiatives, standards and best practice, contributing to consistency, continuous improvement and knowledge sharing across the business.
- Support the development and use of GIS-based technology, tools and workflows to improve efficiency, consistency and value across the project.
- Engage with GIS users and project stakeholders to improve ways of working, increase adoption of GIS solutions, respond to queries and resolve GIS-related data issues.
- Support asset information, location-based data and project reporting requirements through the use of reliable geospatial information.
- Maintain GIS outputs in line with project requirements, information management processes, applicable digital delivery standards and ISO 19650 principles where relevant.
- Develop new ideas and approaches to improve GIS processes, data quality, reporting, collaboration and value across the project.
- Maintain a commitment to continuous professional development, keeping awareness of emerging digital, geospatial and data technologies relevant to infrastructure delivery
Who we're looking for
- Essential experience with ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online required.
- ArcGIS Pro will be essential to ensure coordinate systems are consistent and accurate, and to provide the analysis tools required to create, manage and assure individual GIS layers and attributes.
- Experience in data quality, data assurance, data management and the successful production of project data.
- Experience creating GIS data, map outputs, dashboards and geospatial deliverables for project teams, clients and stakeholders.
- Experience with Microsoft Excel and the management, manipulation and checking of structured data.
- Knowledge of geodatabases, coordinate systems and spatial data standards.
- Working knowledge of BIM processes, Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) and Common Data Environment (CDE) environments.
- Experience supporting GIS user administration, permissions management and access control within GIS platforms.
- Experience with CAD, data conversion workflows and integration of GIS information with design, environmental, BIM and project delivery data.
- Awareness of wider GIS software packages and geospatial data formats, with ESRI ArcGIS remaining the primary project GIS platform.
- Excellent organisational skills with high attention to detail, accuracy and information quality.
- Ability to work to tight deadlines and under minimal supervision.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a wider project team.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to support users, respond to GIS-related queries and promote efficient ways of working.
- Understanding of health, safety and quality expectations and a commitment to supporting Zero Harm through accurate geospatial information and improved project visibility.
