About the role:
LUC’s finance team is collaborative, supportive and focused on continuous improvement. The team is based across our London, Bristol, Sheffield and Glasgow offices and supports the whole of LUC.
This role is ideal for someone in their early career pursuing an accountancy qualification, with study support provided. You will report to the Finance Manager and gain hands-on experience.
Partnering directly with Project Managers and Directors, you will oversee project finances and lead regular reviews to ensure strong financial performance. We’re looking for someone who enjoys building relationships, constructively challenging stakeholders, and supporting the delivery of successful environmental projects.
The role will include, but not be limited to:
- Partnering with Project Managers and Directors to set up and manage project financials in line with LUC procedures, ensuring strong financial governance and control.
- Acting as a trusted advisor, ensuring project teams have accurate, timely, and meaningful financial information to support decision-making. Taking a proactive role in managing the financial performance of large and complex projects.
- Leading monthly reviews of work-in-progress (WIP), providing challenge, insight, and recommendations to optimise project performance and cash flow.
- Delivering targeted training and ongoing support to non-finance staff, improving financial understanding.
- Building strong relationships with stakeholders across the business.
- Analysing and interpreting project profitability, providing actionable insights to drive improved margins and operational efficiency.
- Providing flexible & value-added finance support to the wider business and produce high-quality financial and management reports.
This role includes the opportunity to share and participate actively in the management and ownership of the business through the Employee Ownership Trust, which places full ownership of the company with the employees.
This is an exciting opportunity to work for a sincere, employee-owned company with strong values and a particular focus on addressing the climate emergency and delivering positive impact.
The role is based in LUC’s office in Bristol. We work in a hybrid model with people being in the office a minimum of two days per week. There will also be travel required to visit sites, client offices and other office locations.
A full-time role is based on 37.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday). However, LUC has a strong track record in flexible working, and we have been recognised for our flexible working culture, so we are happy to discuss a range of flexible working options for this role including part time hours (minimum 30 hours per week) if desired.
Salary: £28,875 - £31,500 FTE (Dependent on experience)

We are committed to creating beautiful, inclusive places that support the health and wellbeing of the people and environments impacted by such inevitable change.
Our Values are what make us.
They reflect our heritage, express the attitudes of our people, and capture what our clients tell us we’re like to work with. Our values are timeless, informing the actions of every generation of LUC.
