Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Part-time Coffee Shop Assistant to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in supporting the kitchen staff with meal preparation and food safety practices. This position is perfect for individuals looking to gain experience in a fast-paced kitchen environment, whether in a restaurant, catering service, or other culinary settings.
Duties
- Assist in the preparation of ingredients for cooking and meal assembly.
- Support chefs and cooks by performing basic cooking tasks and food preparation.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, including washing dishes and utensils.
- Ensure all food safety standards are adhered to, including proper storage and handling of food items.
- Help with inventory management by restocking supplies as needed.
- Participate in the cleaning of kitchen equipment and work surfaces after use.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient kitchen operations.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a kitchen environment is preferred but not essential; a willingness to learn is key.
- Basic knowledge of food safety practices and culinary techniques is advantageous.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented atmosphere.
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail.
- Capability to follow instructions accurately and efficiently.
- A passion for cooking and the culinary arts is highly desirable.
- 1-2 shifts every week, plus to cover staff holidays
