The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist is responsible for supporting the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of environmental, health, safety, and process safety management systems within the Animal Nutrition business in Thirsk . The role serves as a subject matter resource on EHS matters, promoting safe, compliant, and sustainable operational practices. Working in partnership with site leadership and stakeholders, the EHS Specialist helps ensure alignment with company policies, procedures, programs, standards, and applicable environmental, health, and safety regulations.
The role is essentially an EHS Specialist / site EHS lead with responsibility across:
- Regulatory compliance & legal representation — environmental, health and safety requirements, permits, authorities and inspections.
- Site risk management — workplace risk assessments, EHS controls, audits and continuous improvement.
- Environmental management — permits, impact assessments, regulatory reporting and environmental performance.
- Occupational health — coordinating health surveillance with occupational-health professionals.
- Training & engagement — identifying training needs and delivering/adapting EHS training.
- Auditing & assurance — internal EHS audits, including potentially other company sites.
- Stakeholder management — Plant Manager, regional/country EHS teams, regulators, local communities and external stakeholders.
- Operational integration — embedding corporate and regulatory EHS requirements into procedures, work instructions and day-to-day operations.

- Confidence dealing with regulators and external stakeholders
