Job Summary
Looking for Subcontract Credit Controller is responsible for managing customer accounts, submission of monthly applications, monitoring outstanding debts, ensuring timely collection of payments, and minimizing the company's credit risk. The role involves maintaining strong customer relationships while ensuring compliance with company credit policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Credit Control & Collections
- Monitor customer accounts and review aged debt reports regularly.
- Contact customers via telephone, email, and written correspondence to collect overdue payments.
- Follow up on outstanding contract and resolve payment delays by liaising with both internal and external departments to resolve queries.
- Maintain accurate records of collection activities and communications.
Account Management
- Reconcile customer accounts and investigate discrepancies.
- Resolve billing queries in coordination with sales, operations, and finance teams.
- Ensure correct allocation of receipts and customer payments.
Reporting & Administration
- Prepare weekly and monthly debtor reports.
- Provide updates on collection activities and cash flow forecasts for outstanding contracts.
- Support month-end and year-end financial closing activities.
- Maintain customer master data and credit records.
Qualifications & Experience
Education
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
Experience
- 3-5 years of experience in Credit Control, Accounts Receivable, or Finance.
- Experience handling large customer portfolios and debt collection activities.
- Experience working within ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar.
Desirable
· Experience within the construction, engineering, property or related industries.
· Experience managing sub-contractor or contractor accounts.
· Knowledge of construction payment processes, retentions and payment applications.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical ability.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel is essential
- Ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines.
- Strong problem-solving and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Percentage of overdue debt collected.
- Collection targets achieved.
- Accuracy of account reconciliations.
- Timeliness of reporting and follow-up activities.
- Reduction in bad debt exposure.
Pay: £30,000.00 per year
