About the company
We are an early-stage technology company developing infrastructure for privacy-preserving computation, distributed systems and decentralised applications.
Our work sits at the intersection of cryptography, blockchain infrastructure, open-source software and applied research. We are looking for a commercially minded operator who can work closely with technical founders and translate complex technology into partnerships, strategy, communications and concrete execution.
The role
The Head of Strategy & Ecosystem will operate across company strategy, ecosystem development, partnerships, communications and special projects.
This is a senior individual-contributor role for someone who understands how technically ambitious organisations function but does not need to be a software engineer. You will work directly with founders, researchers, developers, external advisers and ecosystem partners to move important initiatives from discussion to completion.
The role is particularly suited to someone who has helped build an early-stage technology or cryptocurrency project and is comfortable working in environments where priorities are evolving, information is incomplete and individual ownership matters.
Key responsibilities
- Work with the founders to define strategic priorities and convert them into practical workstreams, deadlines and deliverables.
- Coordinate projects involving engineering, cryptography, product, legal, communications and commercial stakeholders.
- Develop relationships with infrastructure providers, research organisations, investors, exchanges, foundations and other ecosystem participants.
- Identify and evaluate partnership, integration, funding and market-development opportunities.
- Prepare partnership proposals, strategic briefs, presentations, applications and other external materials.
- Translate highly technical concepts into clear language for non-technical partners, users and stakeholders.
- Manage company announcements, public positioning, documentation and high-level community communications.
- Support the preparation and release of technical papers, product updates, developer materials and research communications.
- Represent the company at industry conferences, workshops, university events and partner meetings.
- Conduct market, competitor and ecosystem research to support strategic decision-making.
- Coordinate external contributors, consultants, auditors, researchers and service providers.
- Identify operational risks, communication gaps and blocked initiatives, and ensure that the relevant owners address them.
- Support fundraising, token-related, governance and organisational projects where required.
- Take ownership of urgent or ambiguous founder-level projects that do not fall neatly within another team’s responsibilities.
Required experience
- Significant experience in a strategy, operations, ecosystem, partnerships or founder’s-office role within an early-stage technology company.
- Direct professional exposure to blockchain infrastructure, cryptocurrency, cryptography, distributed systems, artificial intelligence infrastructure or another technically complex sector.
- Experience working closely with highly technical founders, engineers or researchers.
- Demonstrable experience building external partnerships and managing senior stakeholder relationships.
- Strong understanding of how early-stage technology projects are financed, positioned, launched and developed.
- Experience preparing professional written materials, including presentations, strategic documents, partnership proposals and public communications.
- Ability to understand technical discussions and identify their commercial or strategic implications without personally writing production code.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
- Strong personal ownership and the ability to work without extensive supervision or established processes.
Desirable experience
- Previous experience as a founder or early employee of a cryptocurrency, infrastructure or deep-technology project.
- Familiarity with privacy technologies, zero-knowledge systems, homomorphic encryption or applied cryptography.
- Experience coordinating technical audits, research publications or security reviews. Existing relationships across the blockchain, research, venture capital or developer-tooling ecosystem.
- Experience working with international corporate, association or foundation structures.
- Experience speaking at conferences, universities or industry events. Familiarity with token launches, digital-asset markets and open-source communities.
What success looks like
During your first six months, you will have:
- Established a clear operating rhythm for the company’s main strategic initiatives.
- Improved coordination between technical work and external communications.
- Developed a qualified pipeline of ecosystem partnerships and integrations.
- Taken ownership of several important cross-functional projects.
- Created clear materials that allow partners and stakeholders to understand the company’s technology and direction.
- Reduced the amount of founder attention required to move non-engineering initiatives forward.
Candidate profile
You are intellectually curious, commercially aware and comfortable around complex technology. You do not need to be the person building the underlying cryptographic system, but you must be able to speak credibly with the people who are.
You are likely to have worked in an unconventional early-stage environment where job titles mattered less than taking responsibility. You can move between a technical discussion, a partnership call, a strategic document and a public announcement without losing sight of the organisation’s larger objectives.
You are direct, independent and able to impose structure on uncertain situations. You know when to push a project forward, when to ask for specialist input and how to represent an ambitious technical organisation professionally.
