The post holder will be able to act as an autonomous interventional practitioner, accountable for their own actions, working closely with Consultant Radiologists, Team Managers, mammographers and trainees.
Working within codes of practice and professional guidelines, the post holder will have freedom to act and assess, diagnose and treat a specialised caseload of patients, reporting their own findings and recommending further investigations.
The post holder will provide expert contribution and be a key member of staff in the planning of the interventional breast imaging lists with consultant radiologists, team managers and the principal radiographer.
The post holder will provide and maintain a quality interventional imaging service to agreed quality standards using evidence based practice, to assist in the formulation, implementation and monitoring of interventional imaging protocols.
The post holder will be responsible for the efficient and effective utilisation of all resources within their area of responsibility to ensure that agreed waiting list targets are met.
The post holder will be a point of contact and give specialist advice within their area of responsibility.
The post holder will participate in the 2WW pathway breast clinics.
The post holder will take a lead role in clinical research, audit and initiation of evidence based practice.
The post holder will be responsible for ensuring that agreed Trust protocols, standards of service and organisation of service are delivered across the area of specialist training.
The post holder will be expected to liaise closely with other departments and managers (within and outside Radiology) to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the service.
The post holder will be expected to act as a source of expert knowledge providing clinical and technical advice and training to clinical teams.
The post holder will be expected to be involved in service improvement and waste reduction to deliver national and local objectives and targets.
