Role Summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a person to make a real difference in the Ordsall Community. The position comes with flexibility, requiring generally only 2 days. The role is a job share and includes holiday/sickness cover for the other community worker. We require a reliable and competent person who is able to work alongside volunteers in a busy kitchen. The job will require knowledge of food hygiene, food preparation and good customer service skills. You will be required to work with our Community Development worker to engage with the community and other service users to find out what their needs and aspirations are and to ensure we are best meeting these.
Main Duties – Full Training will be provided if required.
1. Undertaking the preparation of food and beverages served in the Café. Design our weekly specials menu, deliver menu and meals to our Meals on Wheels customers. To advertise our services, food deals on social media platforms.
2. Serving customers in a pleasant and courteous manner.
Actively listenings and proactively sign posting customers to appropriate services. Recording any feedback.
3. Operating the till/card machine and ensuring that they balance and appropriate records are maintained.
4. Ensuring that sufficient stock levels and maintained. Ordering and shopping (locally) for supplies. Ensuring that orders have been correctly delivered and charged for.
5. Cleaning all dishes, work stations, cooking equipment and food storage areas in accordance with food safety regulations. Conducting a regular deep clean when required.
6. Clearing tables and washing up. Ensuring the outside furniture is placed outside and returned into the café at the end of the day.
7. Ensuring that the café environment is pleasant and welcoming in line with the image agreed with the Trustees
8. Keeping cleaning and temperature records. Reporting any maintanance issues to the chairperson.
9. Volunteering during courses or events taking place at the café and any fundraiding events.
10. Ensuring that Risk Assessments are complied with and to be aware of your responsibilities for Health & Safety to yourself and others.
11. Work alongside volunteers, completing their initial induction, providing basic training and supervision.
12. Complying with all organisation policies and procedures.
General
