About the role
We are recruiting caring, reliable and experienced Children’s Residential Support Workers to provide agency cover within children’s residential homes across Stoke-on-Trent and surrounding areas.
You will support children and young people who may have experienced trauma, emotional or behavioural difficulties, family breakdown or other complex circumstances. You must be able to provide consistent, compassionate and professional support while maintaining clear boundaries.
Your responsibilities
- Supporting children and young people with their daily routines.
- Promoting independence, confidence and positive outcomes.
- Building safe and trusting professional relationships.
- Supporting education, activities, appointments and community participation.
- Managing challenging situations calmly and safely.
- Following individual care plans and risk assessments.
- Maintaining accurate daily records and incident reports.
- Administering medication where trained and authorised.
- Safeguarding children and reporting concerns immediately.
- Working effectively with permanent staff and other professionals.
- Completing household tasks and maintaining a safe environment.
- Supporting waking-night and sleep-in shifts where required.
Essential requirements
- Previous experience supporting children or young people in a residential, care, education or similar setting.
- A genuine commitment to safeguarding and promoting children’s welfare.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.
- Flexibility to work days, nights, weekends and bank holidays.
- Right to work in the United Kingdom.
- Willingness to complete all required safer-recruitment checks and mandatory training.
- Enhanced Child Workforce DBS registered with the Update Service, or willingness to obtain a new DBS certificate.
