Job Title: Healthcare Assistant (Nights)
Location: Lark View Care Home, IP29 5NU (There are no local public transport links)
Contract Type: Full-time / Permanent
Hours: 8:00 PM – 8:00 AM
Shift Pattern: 3–4 nights per week, including alternate weekends
Role Overview
We are seeking compassionate and reliable Healthcare Assistants to join our team on night shifts in a residential care home. The home supports older adults, including residents living with dementia.
As a Healthcare Assistant, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality, person-centred care, ensuring residents’ comfort, dignity, and safety throughout the night.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide personal care, including assisting with washing, dressing, toileting, and continence needs
- Support residents with mobility and repositioning to ensure comfort and prevent pressure sores
- Monitor residents’ wellbeing and respond promptly to any change in condition
- Carry out regular night checks and ensure a safe, calm environment
- Assist residents who may be awake, anxious, or disoriented during the night, particularly those with dementia
- Support with administering food and drinks where required
- Maintain accurate records and complete documentation in line with care plans
- Ensure the home remains clean, tidy, and safe during night hours
- Work as part of a team and communicate effectively with colleagues and senior staff
Skills and Experience
Essential:
- A caring, patient, and empathetic nature
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Flexibility to work night shifts and alternate weekends
Desirable:
- Previous experience in a care home or healthcare setting
- Experience supporting individuals living with dementia
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or willingness to work towards)
