Your new companyA leading Welsh university is seeking a proactive and organised Compliance Assistant to join its Estates & Campus Facilities team. Working across a large and diverse estate, you will play a key role in supporting fire safety compliance, helping to ensure buildings remain safe and fully compliant for staff, students and visitors.
Your new roleAs a Compliance Assistant, you will support the delivery of the University's fire safety compliance programme by carrying out routine testing, inspections and record-keeping activities across the estate.
Your responsibilities will include:

Conducting weekly fire alarm tests and maintaining accurate testing records.

Carrying out weekly and annual emergency lighting tests and producing relevant certification.

Testing disabled toilet alarms and disabled refuge alarm systems.

Assisting with fire drills alongside security teams and building managers.

Completing visual inspections of fire escape routes and safety signage.

Recording faults in the university's work management system and coordinating repairs with contractors.

Ensuring all compliance records, schedules and documentation are accurately maintained and updated.

Working across multiple University buildings to support ongoing compliance activities.
What you'll need to succeed

Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to work.

Strong administrative and record-keeping skills.

Good IT skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Ability to work independently and manage your own workload.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.

Full UK driving licence.

Ability to travel across a large estate and move around buildings without assistance.
Desirable:

Previous experience in a compliance, maintenance or facilities role.

Experience working with fire alarms, emergency lighting or building safety systems.

Background in maintenance, electrical works or fire safety.

Relevant qualifications within electrical, fire safety or building services disciplines.
