We are seeking a friendly and efficient Sales Assistant/Barista to join our team. This role involves preparing and serving high-quality beverages, providing excellent customer service, and supporting daily operations within our busy café. The ideal candidate will be passionate about delivering a welcoming experience and maintaining high standards of food safety and hygiene. This position offers an opportunity to develop barista skills while working in a vibrant environment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve a variety of hot and cold beverages, including coffee, tea, and specialised drinks, ensuring consistency and quality.
- Assist customers with menu selections, answer queries, and provide exceptional service to enhance their experience.
- Handle cash transactions accurately and operate the till system efficiently.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the café area, including food preparation surfaces, tables, and equipment.
- Follow food safety standards and hygiene protocols at all times to ensure compliance with health regulations.
- Restock supplies as needed, including ingredients, cups, utensils, and cleaning materials.
- Support team members during busy periods by assisting with serving or food preparation tasks as required.
Requirements
- Previous barista experience is preferred but not essential; training will be provided for the right candidate.
- Knowledge of food safety standards and procedures is advantageous.
- Experience in serving customers in a fast-paced environment is desirable.
- Basic maths skills for handling cash transactions accurately.
- Strong organisational skills with good time management to prioritise tasks effectively.
- Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team.
- Friendly demeanour with excellent communication skills to engage positively with customers.
