Job Overview
Power Up Club is a movement and wellbeing programme for children aged 5 to 11 across Spelthorne, Richmond and Hounslow. We run after school clubs, in school workshops, holiday camps and small group wellbeing sessions, combining Sport and Exercise Science with hands on experience in schools. Our sessions are built to develop confidence, resilience and emotional regulation, not to find the most talented child in the room. Every child should leave feeling more capable than when they arrived. You can see everything we deliver at powerupclub.co.uk
We are looking for an energetic Sports Coach to run 2 after school sessions a week from September, with optional holiday camps at October half term and in December. You will plan and lead your own sessions, so this is real coaching responsibility rather than assisting. If you want to help children build habits that outlast the session, this is a chance to do it while developing your own coaching practice.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver your own sessions for primary aged children, sharing plans with us in advance
- Pair physical activity with mindset building games that develop confidence and self regulation
- Adapt activities on the spot for different abilities, confidence levels and additional needs
- Encourage teamwork, kindness and a positive attitude in every session
- Keep every child safe and included, following our safeguarding policy and reporting concerns the same day
- Carry out a basic space check, then set up and pack away equipment
- Communicate clearly with school staff and parents about arrangements and how sessions are going
Requirements
- Experience coaching or teaching children aged 5 to 11
- Confidence planning your own sessions and leading a group independently
- Warmth and patience, particularly with children who lack confidence or find group activities hard
- Strong communication with children, parents and school staff
- Commitment to safeguarding, safety and injury prevention
- Availability for term time after school sessions, and for camps during the school holidays if you want that work
- An enhanced DBS with the children's barred list, or a willingness to obtain one
- A genuine belief that being active should feel good rather than competitive
