The Polar Museum is seeking a friendly, enthusiastic and customer-focused Visitor Services Assistant to join our team on Saturdays, our busiest visitor day.
This public-facing role is central to ensuring that visitors enjoy a welcoming and engaging experience at one of the world's leading polar collections. You will greet visitors, assist in the museum shop, answer enquiries, support events and activities, help maintain public spaces, and assist with opening and closing procedures. You will also provide day-to-day support for our front-of-house volunteers.
We are looking for someone with excellent communication skills, experience in a customer-facing environment, cash-handling experience, and the ability to work confidently both independently and as part of a team. An interest in museums, heritage, learning and public engagement, or the polar regions/cryosphere would be advantageous.
The Polar Museum welcomes more than 40,000 visitors each year and plays a key role in sharing the history, science and culture of the Arctic and Antarctic. This is an excellent opportunity to join a small, supportive team and contribute to an outstanding visitor experience.
Salary: £25,249 to £27,319 per annum, pro rata Hours: 7.3 hours per week, Saturdays only Location: Scott Polar Research Institute, Cambridge
