Job Description
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Dance Instructor to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will teach a wide range of dance styles, including Theatre, Jazz, Tap, and Ballet, to students aged 4–18 years old. You will be responsible for delivering engaging and progressive lessons, nurturing young talent, and maintaining a high standard of training. Lesson will begin at 3pm and conclude around 8:30pm.
This role involves delivering classes as part of our after-school provision, followed by leading sessions during our external lets and core theatre school programme. The ideal candidate will be creative, energetic, and committed to the personal and artistic development of young performers.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver high-quality dance lessons tailored to various age groups and skill levels.
- Teach a variety of styles, including Theatre Dance, Jazz, Tap, and Ballet.
- Prepare students for performances, showcases, and possible examinations.
- Maintain a safe, inclusive, and positive classroom environment.
- Communicate effectively with parents, students, and team members.
- Support the transition between the after-school programme and theatre school sessions.
- Contribute to the creative development of the Academy’s productions and performances.
Requirements
- Strong technical training and teaching experience in multiple dance styles.
- Previous experience teaching children and young people (ages 4–18).
- Excellent class management and communication skills.
- Enthusiastic, reliable, and committed to nurturing young performers.
- Relevant dance teaching qualification(s) or equivalent experience.
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo one).
- First Aid qualification (or willingness to obtain).
Desirable
- Experience choreographing for youth performances and/or productions.
- Familiarity with ISTD, RAD or other dance syllabus.
- A background in musical theatre or performance.
