Kitchen Coordinator required at Quarry Mount Care Home in Swindon at our a warm, friendly, Residential Care Home in Old Town, Swindon.

Key Responsibilities
Food Preparation & Service
- Prepare and cook nutritious meals for residents, taking into account individual dietary needs and IDDSI guidelines.
- Follow Apetito menu guidance, including cooking instructions, temperatures and timings.
- Assist with breakfast service, including cooked breakfast items.
- Take the 10:30am tea and biscuits round, assisting residents where required.
- Obtain lunch requests from residents and serve lunch (normally at 12:30pm).
- Prepare sandwiches for daily teatime service.
- Bake homemade cakes for occasions such as birthdays and Christmas.
- Cater for special events and celebrations including Christmas, Easter and in-house parties.
Stock & Ordering
- Liaise with management regarding food quantities required.
- Order food and kitchen supplies from approved suppliers.
- Prepare a weekly supermarket shopping list and check deliveries for accuracy.
- Monitor stock levels and rotate stock to ensure correct use-by dates are followed.
- Carry out regular stock checks.
Kitchen Hygiene & Safety
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and food hygiene throughout the kitchen.
- Follow all Health & Safety and Environmental Health regulations.
- Complete kitchen cleaning schedules and assist with periodic deep cleaning.
- Clean and maintain kitchen equipment including fridges, freezers, ovens and storage areas.
- Ensure waste is disposed of correctly and recycling procedures are followed.
- Minimise food waste through good kitchen management.
Record Keeping & Compliance
- Maintain accurate records including Better Food Better Business (BFBB) documentation.
- Record fridge, freezer and food temperatures.
- Report any faults, defects or breakages to management and record them in the kitchen log.
Resident Care & Teamwork
- Provide a friendly, patient and respectful service to residents at all times.
- Be aware of allergies and dietary requirements.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding residents and their families.
- Work collaboratively with the care team to ensure residents’ preferences are met.
Skills & Experience
- Experience working in a kitchen or catering environment preferred.
- Understanding of food hygiene and safety standards.
- Good organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic computer skills for record keeping.
