Activities and Events Lead – On-Site and Off-Site
Full UK Driving Licence Required
Future Survival is looking for a confident, reliable and hands-on Activities and Events Lead to support the delivery of activities at our Gravesend activity centre and at off-site events across the local area.
This is primarily an activities role covering both on-site and off-site work. It is not a driving-only position and it is not limited to external events.
The successful candidate will regularly work at Future Survival, leading activities, supporting bookings, supervising staff, preparing equipment and helping maintain standards across the centre. They will also drive company vehicles and help deliver activities at schools, community events, festivals and other external venues.
The role will involve activities including laser tag, airsoft, archery, shooting range activities, Nerf, team-building sessions, school bookings, birthday parties, community events and holiday programmes.
The successful candidate will report to our Senior Activities and Events Lead and will be expected to take practical responsibility for ensuring activities and events are properly prepared, safely delivered and fully packed away.
Main responsibilities:
- Lead and support activities at the Future Survival centre in Gravesend.
- Help manage the day-to-day delivery of on-site activities, parties, group bookings and events.
- Prepare activity areas, equipment and staff before on-site sessions begin.
- Deliver clear instructions and safety briefings to customers.
- Ensure on-site activities are delivered safely, professionally and in line with company procedures.
- Supervise and guide team members during activities and events.
- Help allocate tasks and make sure staff understand their responsibilities.
- Support the opening, running and closing of the activity centre when required.
- Assist with parties, school visits, holiday clubs, team-building sessions and community bookings.
- Drive company vehicles to schools, community events and other off-site bookings.
- Safely transport staff, activity equipment and event materials.
- Take responsibility for setting up, delivering and packing down off-site activities.
- Complete vehicle, equipment and safety checks before and after activities and events.
- Monitor equipment condition and report any damage, faults or missing items.
- Support the cleaning, organisation and secure storage of activity equipment.
- Assist with activity stock checks and ordering requirements.
- Complete attendance records, incident reports, equipment checks and other required paperwork.
- Help maintain high standards of customer service, safety, cleanliness and presentation across the centre.
- Help identify opportunities to improve activities, develop new packages and increase bookings.
- Act as shift lead when required and once appropriately trained.
Essential requirements:
- Full UK driving licence.
- Able to meet the requirements of the company’s vehicle insurer.
- Confident driving a company vehicle and transporting staff and activity equipment.
- Willing and able to work regularly at the Future Survival activity centre in Gravesend.
- Available to attend off-site events when required.
- Reliable, organised and able to take responsibility without constant supervision.
- Confident working with children, young people, families and adult groups.
- Able to confidently lead activities and communicate safety information clearly.
- Willing to work daytime, evenings, weekends and school holidays.
- Physically able to load, move, set up and pack away activity equipment.
- Able to remain calm and make sensible decisions in a busy environment.
- Willing to complete safeguarding, first-aid, food-hygiene and activity-specific training.
- Able to obtain a satisfactory enhanced DBS check.
Desirable experience:
- Experience leading activities, events, sports sessions, youth work or outdoor education.
- Experience working in an activity centre, leisure venue or visitor attraction.
- Experience working with children or young people.
- Experience supervising staff or volunteers.
- Experience driving a van or larger company vehicle.
- First-aid or safeguarding qualifications.
- Experience delivering laser tag, airsoft, archery, Nerf, team-building or similar activities.
The person we are looking for:
We need someone who is equally comfortable working at our activity centre and delivering events away from the venue.
They must understand that driving is an essential part of the role, but that most of their responsibilities will involve leading activities, supporting the operation of the centre, supervising staff and making sure work is completed properly.
We are looking for someone who takes ownership rather than waiting to be told what to do. They should notice when equipment needs preparing, when an activity area needs attention, when staff require direction and when something has not been completed to the expected standard.
They must be friendly and encouraging with customers while also being confident enough to enforce safety rules, address problems and maintain professional standards.
This role would suit someone who enjoys practical work, leading activities, working with young people and being part of a varied working week where no two days are exactly the same.
