Electrician – Installation & Remedial Works
Location: Mobile role – ideally based within a 10 mile radius of Ongar, Essex

The Role
AC1 Electrical Services Ltd is looking for an experienced electrician to join our directly employed team.
The role will primarily involve electrical installation and remedial work identified following electrical testing. Experience and qualifications around carrying out electrical testing and inspections and EICRs would be useful but is not essential.
Typical work
- Electrical remedial works following EICRs
- Consumer-unit and distribution-board replacements
- New circuits and circuit alterations
- Rewires and partial rewires
- Fault finding and repairs
- Lighting and emergency-lighting works
- Fire, smoke and heat-detection work
- Domestic and commercial electrical installations
- Carrying out EICRs on Domestic and Commercial premises
- Testing, certification and commissioning where suitably qualified
Working areas and travel
This is a mobile role covering London, Essex, Hertfordshire, Kent, Cambridgeshire and Buckinghamshire.
You will normally be assigned work within one area for the day rather than travelling between different regions during the day. However, the area you are assigned may change from one day to the next. For example, you may work in Cambridgeshire one day and Essex the following day.
Our office is based in Ongar, Essex, but you will normally travel directly to your assigned jobs rather than reporting to the office each morning. We would therefore prefer someone who lives within approximately five miles of Ongar or within a reasonable travelling distance.
The basic working week is 45 hours. Additional travel time is paid where the total working and travelling day exceeds 10 hours or the total week exceeds 50 hours.
What we are looking for
- Strong electrical installation and remedial experience
- Ability to work safely and complete work to a good standard
- Ability to diagnose faults and work with limited supervision
- Good communication with customers, residents and the office team
- Full UK driving licence
- Willingness to travel throughout our operating areas
- Relevant electrical qualifications and practical industry experience
An NVQ Level 3, 18th Edition qualification and ECS Gold Card would be advantageous, but we will consider experienced electricians who are still working towards their full qualification or Gold Card status.
Any appointment and the work allocated will be based on the applicant’s demonstrated competence.
