Job Summary:
The Production Engineer plays a key role in delivering successful live events through a combination of on-site engineering and technical warehouse operations.
The role is primarily focused on supporting the installation, operation and de-rig of live event systems, while also ensuring equipment is prepared, maintained and returned to the highest operational standards within the warehouse.
Production Engineers are expected to take ownership of one or more technical specialisms within the business, maintaining equipment standards, driving continuous improvement and acting as the warehouse's technical point of contact for their specialist area.
The successful candidate will combine strong technical knowledge with a proactive attitude, taking pride in both delivering exceptional events and maintaining a world-class warehouse operation.
Location: Suttons Business Park, Reading
Main Duties:
Project Delivery
- Install, configure and de-rig professional audio, video, lighting and power systems for live events.
- Support Project Managers and Lead Engineers on a wide range of event productions.
- Independently deliver smaller event installations where appropriate.
- Represent Visions professionally with clients, venues and suppliers.
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues on-site.
- Drive company vehicles to transport equipment to and from venues.
- Ensure equipment is loaded, transported and unloaded safely.
Warehouse Operations
- Prepare technical equipment accurately from project kit lists.
- Ensure all equipment is clean, fully functional and labelled correctly before dispatch.
- Carry out structured de-prep following every project.
- Return equipment to the correct warehouse location maintaining accurate stock control.
- Use HireHop to accurately prepare, scan, track and return equipment
- Identify damaged or faulty equipment and ensure it is correctly quarantined and reported.
- Carry out routine maintenance, testing and basic repairs where appropriate.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping and organisation throughout the warehouse.
- Support stock takes and equipment audits.
- Respond to urgent operational requirements and last-minute project changes.
Technical Ownership
- Take ownership of one or more technical disciplines such as Audio, Video, Lighting, Power or Rigging.
- Maintain equipment standards within your specialist area.
- Monitor equipment condition and identify replacement or repair requirements.
- Develop improvements to equipment storage, labelling and workflows.
- Support equipment testing programmes.
- Advise colleagues on best practice within your specialist discipline.
- Help train and support other warehouse staff.
- Work with Operations and Project Management teams to continuously improve technical delivery.
Experience
Essential:
- Experience working within the live events industry.
- Experience preparing and installing professional AV equipment.
- Experience working within a technical warehouse environment.
- Good understanding of professional audio, lighting, video or power systems.
Desirable:
- Experience leading smaller event installations.
- Experience using HireHop or similar rental management software.
- Forklift licence.
- PAT Testing qualification.

Additional Requirements
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Ability to drive company vehicles including vans up to 3.5 tonnes.
- Physically capable of lifting and moving technical equipment safely.
- Comfortable working at height where appropriate.
- Based primarily from the Reading warehouse with regular travel to event venues throughout the UK and Europe.
- Flexible approach to working hours including evenings and weekends as required by operational demands.
- Ability to obtain security clearance required by client venues.

Pay: £28,000.00-£32,000.00 per year
