Overview
We are seeking a professional HGV Class 1 Driver to join our logistics team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of goods, primarily using curtainside trailers. This role offers an excellent opportunity for experienced drivers with a focus on commercial driving and delivery operations. Responsibilities
- Operate HGV Class 1 lorries, including curtainside vehicles, in compliance with all road safety regulations and company policies
- Conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure vehicle safety and roadworthiness
- Safely load, secure, and unload goods on curtainside lorries, ensuring proper handling and adherence to weight limits
- Deliver goods to various locations efficiently whilst maintaining scheduled delivery times
- Maintain accurate delivery documentation and logs in accordance with legal requirements
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and clients regarding delivery schedules or any issues encountered during transit
- Follow all health and safety procedures to ensure a safe working environment for oneself and colleagues
Requirements
- Valid HGV Class 1 licence with relevant driving experience
- Proven experience in commercial driving, particularly with curtainside vehicles or similar equipment like flat bed
- Delivery driver experience is highly desirable
- Strong knowledge of road safety regulations and best practices for secure cargo handling
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage time effectively during deliveries
- Ability to work independently and responsibly, demonstrating professionalism at all times
- Good communication and navigational skills to liaise with clients and deliveries and team members effectively
