Job Summary
This role will focus on teaching and learning support, including working with pupils in class, delivering small-group interventions and providing lesson cover for PPA and staff absence as required.
We are looking for an experienced teaching assistant who combines strong classroom practice with a kind and nurturing ethos. The successful candidate will be able to deliver whole-class teaching when required and provide effective intervention and support for pupils across the primary age range, including Upper Key Stage 2.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and provide support for pupils on an individual or group basis.
- Assist with the development and implementation of Individual Education / Behaviour Plans.
- Undertake structured and agreed learning activities / teaching programmes, adjusting activities according to pupil responses.
- Undertake programmes linked to local and national learning strategies, recording achievement and progress and feeding back to the teacher.
- Provide high-quality pastoral support to pupils, promoting their emotional wellbeing, confidence, self-esteem and engagement in school life.
- build positive, professional relationships with pupils and act as a trusted adult, supporting children to overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.
- Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils within the classroom.
- Support pupils consistently whilks recognising and responding to their individual needs.
- Encourage pupils to interact and work co-operatively with others and engage all pupils in activities.
- Provide feedback to pupils in relation to progress and achievement.
- Provide support for the teacher in assessing pupil' responses to learning activities and, where necessary, modifying the activities to achieve progression towards intended learning outcomes.
- Liaise with teachers in designing and delivering appropriate learning opportunities to meet specific learning needs.
- Adapt and modify planned activities for pupils who are making extremely slow progress.
- Effectively communicate the work set by the class teacher to the pupils and ensure that pupils are aware of the teacher's expectations.
Qualifications
Necessary
- Secure numeracy / literacy skills
- Secure IT skills
- NVQ2 for teaching assistants or equivalent qualifications or experience
Desirable
- Training in the relevant learning strategies
- First Aid training / training as appropriate
- HLTA qualification or equivalent
- Willingness to complete additional safeguarding training and contributing to the school's safeguarding team
Pay: £27,088.00-£29,062.00 per year
