Responsibilities:
- Stripping vehicles for repair *
- Stripping vehicles as per job card *
- Checking parts whilst stripping *
- Mark up with correct id all displaced parts and store safe and securely *
- Reporting extra parts needed to Workshop Manager/Estimator
- Complete quality check sheet
- Repair as per job card
- Jig and pull if required or requested using Car-o-liner
- Check repair methods before carrying out repairs
- Set up welding equipment correctly as per repair methods
- Use extraction at all times
- Align all panels
- Use correct fillers for repair
- Carry out structural and aluminium repairs to JLR specification
- Competent in aluminium bonding and riveting techniques
- Use approved aluminium specific tools and work stations
- Hold or be working towards JLR aluminium specific accreditation e.g ATA aluminium/structural or manufacturer specific training
- Check operations manual for repair systems/filler application
- Fitting vehicles after repair *
- Checking locks, lights, electrics as per quality check sheet *
- Report to Workshop Manager if warning lights on *
- Cleaning up work area and making sure that plant and equipment is working correctly, any faults found, immediately inform management of findings
- Liaising with other departments
- Report any problems to Workshop Manager
Description:
Panel/Strip and Fit department is responsible for the stripping out and re-fitting of all parts required to carry out repairs to damaged vehicles. All stripping must be carried out as per job card, or other instruction from the Workshop Manager. A high standard must be achieved at all times. Liaising with other members of staff is essential in this role to help the throughput of work.
