Are you passionate about supporting children with SEND, especially those with Autism (ASD) or Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs?
We're working with a welcoming and inclusive school in Sutton that is seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team immediately. This is a long-term role with excellent professional development opportunities and a clear path for progression — ideal for aspiring teachers, therapists, or psychologists.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support pupils 1:1 or in small groups with SEND, including ASD, SEMH, EAL and behavioural needs
- Deliver personalised interventions and support inside and outside the classroom
- Use techniques such as Makaton, PECS, and phonics (training provided)
- Implement behaviour strategies and reward-based teaching approaches
- Work collaboratively with teachers and therapists to deliver tailored learning
- For Secondary: Subject-specific support (e.g. English, maths, science)
Ideal Candidate:
- Experience working with children with SEND
- Calm, empathetic, and resilient under pressure
- Familiar with UK curriculum and classroom environments
- Knowledge of Makaton, PECS, phonics – desirable but not essential
- Holds a relevant degree (2:1 preferred) – not essential
- Confident managing behaviour in a positive, proactive way
- UK Right to Work (No sponsorship available)
Working Hours:
- Monday to Friday
- 8:30am–4:00pm
- Term-time only
