About the Role
We are looking for a friendly, organised, and motivated Accounts Assistant to join our busy accountancy practice in Chesham. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with accounting experience who enjoys working as part of a close-knit team and providing excellent service to clients.
This is a fully office-based role. We are looking for someone who is reliable, personable, and happy to work collaboratively with colleagues in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Bookkeeping for a variety of clients using Xero and other accounting software.
- Processing sales invoices, purchase invoices, and bank transactions.
- Bank reconciliations and maintaining accurate financial records.
- Assisting with VAT return preparation and submissions.
- Supporting the preparation of management accounts, year-end accounts, and tax returns.
- Liaising with clients by telephone and email to obtain information and answer queries.
- Maintaining client records and ensuring all work is completed accurately and on time.
- Providing general administrative support to the accounts team as required.
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience in an Accounts Assistant, Bookkeeper, or similar accounting role.
- Experience using Xero and Microsoft Excel.
- Good understanding of bookkeeping principles and accounting procedures.
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Friendly, professional, and able to work well within a team.
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn.

- This is an office-based role only.

- Applicants must be able to reliably commute to Chesham HP5 1PE or relocate before starting employment.

Pay: From £26,000.00 per year
