TITLE: IT Tutor (Digital Skills)
POSITION: Volunteer
HOURS PER WEEK: 2 Hours a week
LOCATION(S): West Ealing, London Borough of Ealing (West London)
ROLE DESCRIPTION:
We are currently seeking a motivated and confident Basic IT Skills Tutor on a volunteer basis to support adult learners with very little or no IT (computer) skills to improve their own digital skills.
As a volunteer you will be responsible for independently running a weekly 2 hour IT class for adult learners in a group setting to support their learning.
You can choose to volunteer either on Tuesdays or Thursdays from 10.30am to 12.30pm.
The ideal volunteer will need to have excellent IT skills themselves and be able to show learners how to use new technology including hardware/ software e.g. Laptops and the Windows Operating Systems.
Experience of teaching in a previous role would be helpful and ideal, however it is not necessary.
This role is ideal for someone who is either in between jobs or retired, lives locally in or near West Ealing and is looking for experience of working in the adult education sector or is keen to give back to their community.
Support and access to additional resources will be provided so you are able to undertake this role effectively.
As a volunteer you will also receive access to additional training opportunities to further develop your self. We will also provide you with a reference.
We will cover any travel expenses to the IT class as well as any additional expenses.
We are looking for someone who is able to start immediately and is able to commit to volunteering with us for at least 3 months.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Helping learners with registering for their IT course.
· Completing registration forms, application forms and learner surveys.
· Ensuring that all registration forms and attendance registers are updated and kept securely.
· Support learners with accessing their course and their chosen topics.
· Deliver weekly Basic IT training sessions to help learner improve their digital skills.
· Respond and adapt course and delivery style to meet learners’ needs and welfare.
· Support the organisation in its marketing and learner recruitment activities.
· Work within the organisation’s policies and procedures.
· Ensure that confidentiality, health and safety of all learners is maintained.
ABOUT US - We are a small community-based organisation which operates across the Ealing, Hillingdon, Harrow and Hounslow areas of West London. Our projects involve delivering basic IT skills, ESOL classes and Employment support activities to local disadvantaged individuals.
