Social Media Manager & Content Creator – Part-Time
Capital Tuition Group Birmingham
Location: Hybrid – remote working with 1–2 content shoots per month
Hours: Approximately 5-15 hours per week
About us
Capital Tuition Group Birmingham is a growing education provider supporting children and young people through high-quality tuition, alternative provision, school partnerships and employability pathways.
We are qualified teacher-led, part of a national network supporting more than 100 schools, and committed to helping young people progress beyond academic achievement alone.
Social media is one of our most important strategic priorities for the coming year. We are therefore looking for an experienced, creative and commercially aware Social Media Manager who can take genuine ownership of our online presence and help establish CTG Birmingham as a trusted and recognisable education brand.
This is not simply a “post a few times each week” position. We need someone who can develop ideas, organise content shoots, produce high-quality content, manage a consistent schedule and use performance data to continually improve our results.
The role
You will manage CTG Birmingham’s presence across TikTok, Instagram and Facebook, working closely with the Director to turn our services, expertise, learner outcomes and partnerships into engaging content.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Creating and managing a monthly social media content strategy and calendar
- Planning and leading one or two content shoots each month
- Supporting with creative concepts, scripts, hooks and shot lists
- Filming and editing short-form videos, including Reels and TikToks
- Creating professional graphics, carousels, stories and promotional posts
- Writing clear, engaging captions that reflect the CTG brand
- Scheduling and publishing content consistently across TikTok, Instagram and Facebook
- Adapting content appropriately for each platform rather than posting identical material everywhere
- Identifying relevant trends and translating them into suitable education-focused content
- Reviewing performance data and producing a concise monthly report
- Recommending changes based on reach, engagement, enquiries and conversions
- Building content around tuition, school partnerships, SEND, alternative provision, employability and parent education
- Ensuring content involving children and young people follows safeguarding, consent and data-protection requirements
- Supporting occasional campaigns, events, masterclasses and service launches
What we are looking for
Essential:
- Proven experience managing business or organisational social media accounts
- A strong portfolio containing short-form video and social media content
- Experience using TikTok, Instagram and Facebook professionally
- Confidence planning and directing content shoots
- Excellent written English and strong caption-writing ability
- A good understanding of hooks, storytelling, audience retention and calls to action
- Experience using scheduling and analytics tools
- Ability to work independently, meet deadlines and take ownership
- Availability to attend one or two in-person content shoots each month
- A professional, dependable and organised approach
Desirable:
- Experience working with an education, youth, professional-services or community-focused organisation
- Experience growing a social media account organically
- Knowledge of Meta Business Suite, TikTok tools, Canva and CapCut or Adobe software
- Experience generating enquiries or leads through organic social media
- Photography or videography experience desirable
- Understanding of safeguarding and consent when creating content involving children or young people
What success will look like
During your first three months, we would expect you to:
- Establish a clear and consistent CTG Birmingham content style
- Create and maintain a reliable monthly posting schedule
- Build an organised bank of reusable photo and video content
- Improve the quality, consistency and relevance of our social media presence
- Increase meaningful reach and engagement among parents, schools, tutors and partner organisations
- Track which content generates enquiries and use this insight to improve future campaigns
- Present clear monthly results and recommendations
What we offer
- Genuine ownership of an important part of our growth strategy
- The opportunity to shape a growing education brand
- Direct access to the Director and quick decision-making
- Flexible hybrid working
- Scope for the role and hours to grow based on results
- Access to meaningful stories, programmes and partnerships
- A varied role with creative freedom and clear objectives
