Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced, reliable, and customer-focused Shop Assistant/Cashier to join our dynamic team at Best One.
In this role, you will play an important role in the day-to-day running of the store, providing excellent customer service and ensuring the shop remains well stocked, organised, and presented to a high standard.
This is a busy, hands-on role suited to someone with previous experience working within a convenience store, supermarket, or similar retail environment who is confident dealing with customers and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers warmly and provide attentive assistance throughout their shopping journey
- Operate tills accurately, handle transactions efficiently, and process payments using various methods
- Replenish stock and ensure shelves and displays are kept well-stocked and presented
- Rotate stock, check expiry dates, and help minimise waste
- Assist customers with product enquiries and provide appropriate recommendations
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and presentation throughout the store
- Ensure the till and checkout areas remain clean, organised, and well-stocked
- Follow all store policies and procedures, including age-restricted sales and Challenge 25
- Manage time effectively to ensure quick service during busy periods while maintaining accuracy
- Supporting opening and closing duties where required
- Working independently and as part of the wider store team
About you:
We are looking for someone who:
- Has previous retail, supermarket, or convenience store experience
- s confident operating a till and handling cash
- Has excellent customer service and communication skills
- Is reliable, punctual, and takes pride in their work
- Can work efficiently and remain organised in a busy retail environment
- Has good communication and customer service skills
- Can use their own initiative and work independently when required
- Understands the importance of excellent store standards and customer service
Previous experience within a convenience store, supermarket or similar retail environment is essential.
