About the Role
As a GP Administrator, you will play a key role in supporting the clinical and administrative functions of the practice. You will be responsible for a variety of administrative duties, ensuring that patient records, correspondence, and practice systems are maintained accurately and efficiently.
The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator with strong organisational skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Processing and managing incoming clinical correspondence.
- Maintaining accurate patient records using the practice clinical system.
- Scanning, coding, and filing documents appropriately.
- Supporting referral and appointment administration.
- Managing patient registrations and deductions.
- Handling patient enquiries via telephone, email, and in person.
- Processing administrative tasks as directed.
- Assisting with the management of recall systems and practice workflows.
- Liaising with hospitals, community services, and other healthcare providers.
- Supporting the wider practice team with general administrative duties.
Essential Requirements
- Previous administrative experience.
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Understanding of confidentiality and data protection principles.
Desirable Requirements
- Previous experience working in a GP practice, NHS, or healthcare setting.
- Knowledge of clinical systems such as EMIS Web or SystmOne.
- Experience of document management and clinical coding.
- Understanding of NHS services and patient pathways.
Pay: Up to £12.71 per hour
