Job Summary
To provide safe, reliable, and friendly door-to-door transport for older adults and other community members, enabling them to attend CACE activities, social outings, and community events. The role helps reduce isolation and supports wellbeing by ensuring that passengers travel comfortably, confidently, and with dignity.
Responsibilities
Driving and Transport:
- Safely drive CACE community minibuses to transport service users to and from activities, outings and events.
- Provide door-to-door assistance, including helping passengers to and from their homes, ensuring they are safely seated and secure.
- Operate tail lifts and ramps for passengers with limited mobility and handle mobility aids such as wheelchairs and walking frames.
- Carry out pre-journey vehicle checks and ensure the vehicle is clean, tidy, and roadworthy.
- Report any vehicle defects or incidents promptly to the Transport Manager.
- Refuel and wash minibuses as requested
- Passenger Care and Support:
- Offer a warm, friendly, and respectful service to all passengers, ensuring their comfort and safety throughout the journey.
- Assist older adults with a range of needs including dementia with understanding, patience, and sensitivity.
- Communicate effectively with passengers and staff to ensure smooth coordination and a positive experience.
- Follow safeguarding, confidentiality, and health and safety procedures at all times.
Health, Safety and Compliance:
- Maintain accurate journey records, mileage logs, and passenger information as required.
- Participate in regular training (e.g. MiDAS, first aid, dementia awareness, manual handling).
Experience
- Full, clean UK driving licence (Category D1 or equivalent)
- Driving minibuses or similar vehicles; experience working with older adults or vulnerable people
- Experience in community transport or voluntary sector work
- Respectful and sensitive to the needs of others
- Able to work flexibly and as part of a team
Pay: £13.55 per hour
