We're looking for a talented, reliable and enthusiastic Cook / Café Chef to join our friendly team at Eyam Tea Rooms, one of the Peak District's busiest independent cafés.
This is much more than simply preparing food. We're looking for someone who enjoys producing high-quality café classics but is also excited to bring fresh ideas to the menu and help us continue growing the business.
About the Role
We're looking for someone to work a minimum of three days per week, with our core days being:
The only set day is Sunday. Wednesday and Thursday can we swapped for Friday and/or Saturday if it suits you.
There will also be opportunities for additional hours to cover holidays, during our busy summer season, and for the right person this role could develop into 4 or 5 days per week.
Our normal working hours are 8:30am–4:30pm, meaning no regular late evenings. We do occasionally host special events around Christmas where some evening work may be required.
What You'll Be Doing
You'll be responsible for preparing and serving fresh food to a consistently high standard, including:
- Preparing breakfast and lunch dishes
- Cooking café favourites including toasties, jacket potatoes, sandwiches and specials
- Maintaining excellent food hygiene standards
- Managing the kitchen efficiently during busy service
- Helping with stock rotation and kitchen organisation
- Supporting the wider team wherever needed
Most importantly, we'd love someone who can help us continue improving our menu by introducing new ideas, seasonal specials and creative twists on classic café dishes.
What We're Looking For

- Has previous experience working in a commercial kitchen
- Works calmly and confidently under pressure
- Can work independently whilst remaining a great team player
- Has excellent organisation and time management
- Takes pride in producing consistently high-quality food
- Wants to help develop menus and grow with the business
- Has a positive attitude and enjoys working with a friendly, young team
