Pay: From £13.00 per hour (dependent on experience)
Hours: 30–40 hours per week, worked over 5 days on a rota basis, including regular weekend working.

About Us
The Cafe at Kirkleatham Museum is a popular and busy café, serving freshly prepared food and refreshments to visitors throughout the year, alongside a varied programme of private functions, seasonal events and community activities.
We are looking for an experienced Kitchen Team Member to join our growing team. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about food quality, thrives in a busy kitchen environment, and can play a key role in supporting the smooth day-to-day operation of the kitchen.
The Role
You will be responsible for preparing and cooking food to a consistently high standard, maintaining excellent food hygiene practices, and ensuring customers receive the quality food and service that The Cafe at Kirkleatham Museum is known for.
The successful candidate will be organised, reliable, and confident working both independently and as part of a team. We are looking for someone who can use their experience and initiative to help maintain high operational standards across all kitchen activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, cook and present food to a consistently high standard
- Assist with menu preparation and food development
- Support the day-to-day operation and organisation of the kitchen
- Maintain exceptional food quality, presentation and portion control
- Ensure compliance with all food hygiene, allergen and health & safety procedures
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment
- Monitor stock levels and assist with stock rotation and ordering requirements
- Work closely with front-of-house staff to deliver an excellent customer experience
- Support the delivery of catering for private events, functions and seasonal activities
- Assist in maintaining the reputation and standards of the café
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience working within a commercial kitchen environment
- Strong food preparation and cooking skills
- Excellent understanding of food hygiene and kitchen safety procedures
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure during busy service periods
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work independently and use initiative
- Availability to work 30–40 hours per week over 5 days on a rota basis
- Must be able to work weekends as part of the rota
- Flexible approach to working additional hours for events and seasonal activities when required
Desirable
- Food Hygiene Certificate
- Experience supporting kitchen operations or training team members
- Experience within cafés, restaurants, hospitality or event catering
- Knowledge of stock management and ordering processes
