Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dynamic Activities Co-ordinator to lead and enhance the recreational and social activities for residents in our two care homes. The ideal candidate will have a passion for care, particularly in environments such as care homes. This role is crucial in promoting the well-being and engagement of our residents, especially those living with dementia. The Activities Co-ordinator will be responsible for creating a stimulating environment that fosters community, communication, and joy among residents.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and oversee a diverse range of activities tailored to the interests and needs of residents.
- Coordinate events that encourage social interaction, physical activity, and cognitive stimulation.
- Engage with residents to understand their preferences and encourage participation in activities.
- Collaborate with care staff to ensure activities are suitable for all levels of ability, particularly for those requiring dementia care.
- Maintain accurate records of resident participation and feedback on activities.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff to promote upcoming events and gather input on future programming.
- Ensure all activities comply with health and safety regulations within the care home environment.
- Foster a warm and welcoming atmosphere that promotes inclusivity among all residents.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in an activities director role or similar position within a care home setting is preferred
- Strong understanding of the needs of seniors, particularly those with dementia or other cognitive impairments.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with residents, families, and staff.
- Creative mindset with the ability to develop innovative programmes that cater to diverse interests.
- Strong organisational skills to manage multiple activities simultaneously while ensuring quality engagement.
- A compassionate approach to care that prioritises the dignity and respect of all residents.
- Relevant qualifications in health care or recreational therapy would be advantageous but are not essential.
