Compass Home Energy is a growing heating, plumbing and renewable energy company delivering high-quality installations across the North West.
Our work covers traditional plumbing and heating alongside modern technologies including air source heat pumps, air conditioning and renewable heating systems, as well as complete bathroom installations.
We are looking to expand our team and would consider:
- Experienced Heating Engineers
- Newly Qualified Plumbing & Heating Engineers
- Plumbing & Heating Apprentices
We are particularly interested in people with the right attitude, a strong work ethic and a willingness to learn and develop across several areas of the industry.
The Role
This is a varied role covering heating, plumbing, bathrooms and modern low-carbon technologies.
Depending on your level of experience, you will either work independently or alongside experienced engineers while developing your skills.
Typical work will include:
- Domestic heating system installations
- Boiler replacements and upgrades
- Air source heat pump installations
- Radiator installations and replacements
- Hot water cylinder installations
- Heating system alterations and upgrades
- First and second fix plumbing
- Bathroom installations
- Showers, baths, toilets, basins and associated pipework
- Heating system flushing, filling and commissioning
- Heating controls
- Fault finding and diagnostics
- Servicing and maintenance
- Copper and plastic pipework
- Air conditioning installations
- Assisting with renewable energy installations
- Working from drawings and installation specifications
- Maintaining a clean and professional standard in customers' homes
Who We're Looking ForExperienced Engineers
We are looking for engineers who can confidently carry out plumbing and heating work to a high standard and take responsibility for their installations.
Experience with heat pumps, air conditioning or bathrooms would be beneficial, but training can be provided.
Newly Qualified Engineers
We are happy to consider engineers who have recently completed their plumbing and heating qualifications and are looking for an opportunity to gain experience.
You do not need to know everything from day one. We are looking for someone who has a good foundation, takes pride in their work and wants to become a highly capable engineer.
Apprentices
We would also consider apprentices who are currently completing, or looking to begin, a plumbing and heating apprenticeship.
For apprentices, previous site experience is useful but not essential.
More importantly, we are looking for someone who:
- Wants to build a long-term career in the industry
- Is willing to learn
- Turns up reliably and on time
- Listens and takes instruction
- Takes pride in their work
- Is not afraid of physical work
- Wants to develop practical skills on site
- Is willing to work across plumbing, heating, bathrooms, heat pumps and air conditioning
The right apprentice will have the opportunity to gain experience across a much broader range of systems than traditional plumbing and heating alone.

- Communicate professionally with customers and colleagues
A full UK driving licence is preferred, particularly for qualified engineers.
Qualifications
Depending on the position and level of experience, applicants may hold or be working towards:
- NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 Plumbing & Heating
- Plumbing & Heating apprenticeship
- Gas qualifications / Gas Safe registration
- G3 Unvented Hot Water qualification
- Water Regulations qualification
- Heat Pump installation qualification
- Air Conditioning / F-Gas qualification
You do not need to hold every qualification listed above.
Training and development will be available for the right person.
