About the Role
We're looking for an experienced Validation Engineer to join our Solutions Validation team in Leeds. This hire will help close existing knowledge gaps in the team and drive a more proactive approach to validating our customer-facing software solutions — shifting us from reacting to production issues to catching them before they happen.
You'll work at the frontier of AI and machine vision deployments, partnering closely with the Solutions, AI Development, Platform, and Rapid Prototyping teams to build the infrastructure, test plans, and documentation that keep our deployments reliable and our delivery on track.
Responsibilities
- Build out and maintain the software infrastructure used to test customer-facing solutions.
- Generate test plans for new features ahead of release, working proactively rather than reactively.
- Maintain clear, up-to-date documentation of testing capabilities and release readiness.
- Contribute to the team's ongoing migration from Jenkins to GitLab CI for software delivery.
- Help design and build test frameworks that don't yet exist today.
- Partner cross-functionally with Solutions, AI Development, Platform, and Rapid Prototyping teams to understand upcoming work and flag risks early.
- Work within UK hours while collaborating with colleagues across the US, India, China, and Korea.
What Success Looks Like
- First 30 days: Get oriented by asking the right questions — understanding what exists, what doesn't, and where the gaps are.
- 60–90 days: Take ownership of tasks and proactively surface issues before they become problems.
- 6 months: Operate fully autonomously and contribute to planning for future validation work.
Skills & Experience
Must have:
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD, specifically GitLab.
- Working proficiency in Python.
- 5+ years of relevant experience in software validation, test engineering, or a related discipline.
Strongly preferred:
- Hands-on experience with the underlying technology areas the team works in — not just process or tooling knowledge.
- A track record of building test frameworks or validation infrastructure from scratch.
You're also:
Collaborative — you build strong working relationships across disciplines and locations.
Proactive — you spot issues and opportunities before being asked to look.
Open — you welcome discussion, differing opinions, and think out loud with the team.
Why Blaize
- Work at the frontier of AI and machine vision deployments.
- Own a real-world deployment end-to-end and see the direct impact of your work.
- Join a genuinely multi-discipline team spanning many backgrounds and locations, working across several exciting projects with sensible common threads.
- Experience a management style that's open and collaborative — your input is welcomed, and you'll have the autonomy to work the way that suits you.
- Clear growth trajectory: this role leads toward higher-level Individual Contributor positions within 1–2 years.
