Job Title: Slitting Operator
Reports To (Line Manager): Factory Manager
Your main purpose is: Delivering production efficiently and maintaining the required quality standards throughout
Responsibilities:
- Safety must always be a prime consideration, and you are required to ensure that the safety of people, the environment and our products are never compromised
- You have a responsibility under the Health & Safety at Work etc Act 1974 to take reasonable care of yourself and other persons that may be affected by your acts or omissions at work, secure the health, safety, and welfare of your staff at work and protect, so far as is reasonably practicable, all others against risks to their health or safety arising from your work activities, those of their staff and ensure that your duties are discharged adequately.
- Take responsibility for ensuring effective controls are in place relating to safety, quality, delivery, cost and company policy.
- Ensure daily production goals are met
- Ensure the highest standards of quality are maintained and delivered from the production process
- Expediate production requirements to meet production schedules and maintain on time delivery.
- To be actively involved in the slitting departments waste reduction, scrap and consumable spend. Making sure that you use the correct amount of material/footage to the job order requirements
- Maintain effective 5S and housekeeping controls throughout the slitting area
- Identify any problems quickly and resolve them effectively, ensuring slitting production is not halted
- Ensure machines are running continuously e.g. - covering breaks
- Continually review speed of machines to increase output
- Real time data entries to be verified in system and in standard formats provided in depth, at the end of each shift
- Liase with Slitting Team Leader to ensure any slitting machine related issues and establish remedy plan.
- Maintain, Troubleshoot, adjust and if possible, repair and clean machine/equipment and adjacent work area ensuring BRC standards are always maintained.
- Report and work with quality department to analysis and remedy any issues
About You:
- Previous experience in a manufacturing, printing (especially flexo, gravure, or offset), or warehouse environment is preferred but not required as training will be given
- Aware of BRC Code of Practice is desirable
- Manage and deal with change in a fast moving and demanding environment whilst still maintaining standards set within the business
- Good attention to detail and an ability to problem solve and work on own initiative
- Must be able to work as part of a team
- Contribute to the continuous improvement activity
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: £12.71-£15.00 per hour
