PaperWild is a recent start-up that was launched by Arya, a romance indie author who set out to start a business to help other authors navigate the stress and overwhelm of self-publishing.
The business has grown rapidly and we are now looking for a local social media marketing assistant to help manage both the business and author social media accounts.
We are looking for someone whose enthusiasm and creativity will help elevate brand visibility, create meaningful interactions, and support marketing campaigns that convert to sales. This position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your skills in social media management and public relations while learning about self-publishing and being surrounded by all things books!
The role will primarily be based from home, but with occasional co-working days in or around Derby / Nottingham to meet, plan, and film and create content.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and post engaging social media content across multiple platforms, both for the business accounts and author accounts, such as Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok to boost brand awareness and audience engagement
- Monitor social media analytics and amend future posts and campaigns based on data from previous post performance
- Assist in planning and implementing social media campaigns aligned with marketing strategies and promotional events
- Track and analyze key performance metrics to measure campaign success and identify opportunities for improvement
- Support the creation of multimedia content including graphics, videos, and written posts that resonate with target audience
- Stay updated on social media trends, platform updates, and best practices to ensure innovative and effective content delivery
- Create social media content images and designs for customers
- Opportunities for increased hours and paid support for book events down the line
- Possible temp to perm opportunity in the future depending on business growth
Requirements
- Strong interest in social media management, digital marketing, or related fields with a desire to learn and grow
- Strong interest in books, reading, and online book communities
- Excellent written communication skills with an eye for engaging storytelling
- Basic understanding of public relations principles and how they apply to online reputation management
- Familiarity with major social media platforms and their features, at least Instagram and TikTok; experience with scheduling tools is a plus
- Experience and high familiarity with Canva
- Creative mindset with attention to detail and a proactive attitude toward new ideas
- Previous experience or coursework in marketing, communications, or related areas is advantageous
- Must be able to demonstrate your style of social media content creation in any area, even if just a personal account.

The role is on a self-employed independent contractor basis with scope for additional hours, bonuses, and temp to perm employment in the future as the business grows.
