Job Purpose
Logistics is a vital part of the supply chain process. They oversee the efficient receipt, storage, servicing and dispatch of parts. To achieve this, they manage people, processes and systems. They ensure productivity targets are met and oversee the maintenance of warehouse and labour management systems. They ensure departmental and workplace health and safety requirements are met and take responsibility for the security of the building and stock.
Job Responsibilities
- Liaising with suppliers and transport companies.
- Packing and preparation of parts to the high standards as set by our customer.
- Planning, coordinating and monitoring the receipt, order assembly and dispatch of goods.
- Load, unload, and transport materials using a counterbalance forklift truck and other mechanical handling equipment.
- Processing of customs documentation both for Imports and Exports to ensure compliance with the relevant legislation.
- Goods receipt, validation checks, storage and maintaining system records.
- Working with the Logistics Manager to ensure the efficient utilisation of space within the warehouse and storage areas.
- Having a clear understanding of the company's policies and vision and how the warehouse contributes to these.
- Maintaining records using computerised systems.
- Ensuring that stock control systems are kept up to date, full inventory accuracy, stock rotation – FIFO, planning future capacity requirements.
- With the Logistics Manager maintaining standards of health and safety, hygiene and security within the work environment.
- Manual handling.
- Provide support to the factory shop floor with regards to packaging and raw materials.
- General housekeeping.
- Monitor, manage and accurately maintain records relating to waste and recycling.
- Perform other job related duties as assigned by Logistics Manager.
Essential job requirements
- A good standard of both verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft 365 applications.
- Enthusiasm, self-motivation and a pride in the orderliness and tidiness of the warehouse.
- A keen eye for presentation is essential.
- Ability to work under pressure to the demands of the job.
- Able to work as part of a team and alone using own initiative.
- Ability to multitask.
- Forward thinker.
- An appropriate level of physical fitness to be able to do fulfil the job role.
Desirable job requirements
- Experience operating counterbalance forklift trucks and other mechanical handling equipment.
- Knowledge of import and export compliance requirements.
- Previous experience using material requirements planning (MRP) systems.
