A3 Fabrications Ltd is a growing structural steel fabrication company based on the outskirts of Mansfield. We specialise in the manufacture of structural steelwork, platforms, staircases, handrails, portal frame components, hoppers, chutes and bespoke fabrication projects for commercial and industrial clients.
Following our recent achievement of BS EN 1090 EXC2 certification, we are looking to recruit an experienced Welder to join our team and support our continued growth.

The Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out MAG (MIG) welding of structural steel components and assemblies in accordance with fabrication drawings, welding procedures and EN 1090 quality requirements.
Duties Will Include:
- MAG (MIG) welding of structural steelwork.
- Welding fillet and butt welds to a high standard.
- Working from fabrication drawings and weld details.
- Ensuring welds meet visual inspection requirements.
- Maintaining high levels of quality and productivity.
- Carrying out basic self-inspection of completed welds.
- Working in accordance with approved Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS).
- Working safely and maintaining a clean working area.
- Assisting with general workshop duties when required.
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience as a structural steel welder.
- Competent in MAG (MIG) welding processes.
- Ability to read and understand engineering and fabrication drawings.
- Experience welding structural steel components and assemblies.
- High attention to detail and pride in workmanship.
- Reliable, punctual and able to work effectively within a small team.
Welding Qualification Requirement
Applicants must be capable of achieving and maintaining welding qualifications to BS EN ISO 9606-1 standards.
Previous welding qualifications are desirable but not essential. A practical weld test will form part of the interview process.
Applicants should be capable of producing high-quality fillet and butt welds suitable for qualification testing to BS EN ISO 9606-1.
Desirable Skills
- Previous experience working within an EN 1090 environment.
- Overhead crane experience.
- Experience welding staircases, platforms, handrails and structural steelwork.
- Experience working to documented welding procedures and quality systems.
