The Role
As a Senior Residential Support Worker, you'll play a key leadership role within the home, providing high-quality care while supporting the Registered Manager and Deputy Manager in the day-to-day running of the service.
Alongside delivering exceptional care, you'll lead shifts, mentor colleagues and help maintain a positive, therapeutic and child-centred culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead shifts and support the smooth day-to-day operation of the home
- Build positive, trusting relationships with children and young people
- Help children feel safe, secure and valued
- Support emotional regulation using trauma-informed and therapeutic approaches
- Encourage independence, confidence and life skills development
- Provide guidance, coaching and positive role modelling to the staff team
- Support the Registered Manager and Deputy Manager in developing a reflective, high-performing team
- Maintain accurate care records and reports using electronic systems
- Work collaboratively with families, education providers and external professionals
- Promote safeguarding and positive outcomes at all times
About You
This role is ideal for an experienced Residential Support Worker, Senior Residential Support Worker or Team Leader looking to progress within children's residential care.
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 1 year's experience supporting children and young people with trauma, complex behaviours or emotional needs
- Full UK manual driving licence held for at least 12 months
- Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends and sleep-ins
- Good understanding of safeguarding and trauma-informed practice
- Ability to lead by example and support colleagues
Desirable
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent), or currently working towards the qualification
- Experience supporting children with:
- Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD)
- Trauma
- Complex behaviours
- Mental health needs
- Autism or neurodiversity
