Abiding Care and Support provides supported accommodation to young people, aged 16 - 18. We operate over 20 homes across London, the Home Counties and Milton Keynes.
The young people who reside in our homes are often care leavers and may have suffered abuse, neglect or trauma. We also provide accommodation for young unaccompanied asylum seekers.
We are a highly professional, diverse, committed team with considerable experience of working with complex and vulnerable young people. Our values are professional, reliable and always caring and we aim to consistently evidence these in our service delivery.
Senior Support Workers (Home Managers) are responsible for overseeing our homes. They are located at the home from Monday to Friday on mixed shifts (09.00 - 17.30 for 3 days a week, 11.00 - 19.30 for 2 days a week). Their main responsibilities are:
- Engaging with and delivering key work to young people
- Working closely with the wider professional team around the young people
- Working closely with Abiding Care colleagues, particularly within their regional team
- Maintaining high housekeeping standards within the home
- Providing supervision and support to Live In Support Workers
- Keeping information systems and records up to date
- Completing written reports, health and safety checks and risk assessments
- Providing an On Call Out of Hours Service on a rota basis
Experience, Skills and Qualities
- Previous experience working with children and young people
- The ability to engage with young people with challenging behaviour and/or complex emotional and behavioural needs
- A strong commitment to working as part of a team
- The ability to work flexibly and be available if needed in an emergency
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Good organisational skills
- The ability to meet and maintain our safeguarding requirements
- A commitment to personal development
- A commitment to continuous organisational improvement
- A drivers licence and their own car
