This role involves managing both the charity’s retail space and tearoom.
Both of these areas provide, with learner support, the opportunity for training to take place supporting adults with learning disabilities in a public-facing environment.
The Retail and Hospitality Manager is responsible for maximising income whilst supporting our team in providing meaningful work experience and developmental opportunities for beneficiaries.
Job Purpose
- Commercial Management: Oversee the profitable daily operation of both the retail shop and tearoom to achieve set budgetary targets.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure the premises complies with Health & Safety and Food Hygiene (HACCP) regulations.
- Support & Development: Create and support an inclusive environment for on-the-job training, mentorship, and support for adults with learning disabilities and volunteers to take place.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Management
- Oversee the day‑to‑day running of the tea room and retail space, ensuring smooth, efficient, and welcoming operations for all visitors.
- Manage daily operations, including stock management, stock generation, merchandising displays, till management, and customer service.
- Implement visual merchandising standards to drive sales of donated goods, new learner made goods, and food items.
- Manage financial procedures including cash handling, banking, and Gift Aid compliance.
- Oversee tearoom food preparation, hygiene standards, food planning, presentation and pricing.
Operational Development
- Develop a retail and catering plan that aligns with the charity’s social mission and strategic objectives.
- Work with the Business Manager to explore new opportunities, including, but not limited to improving awareness of the tearoom and retail shop through promotion and online presence.
- Support in visually promoting and celebrating the work done at Walton Lea Partnership and the difference that these 2 spaces can make for the charity.
- Explore developing small events, seasonal activities, and community engagement initiatives hosted within the tea room or shop.
- Provide regular updates to senior leaders and identify opportunities to improve operations, visitor experience, and revenue.
Safety & Compliance
- Manage Health and Safety requirements in the retail and tearoom spaces ensuring we adhere to Health & Safety regulations including Food Hygiene and completing risk assessments.
Supporting People & Volunteers
- Provide a "doing with, not for" approach to support beneficiaries, building their confidence and independence.
- Provide space for supervise staff, volunteers, and supported individuals, fostering an inclusive team culture.
- Take a lead in recruiting, training, and the retention of volunteers.
Pay: £26,250.00 per year
